U.S. FOODS

How might we reimagine the connection between data & content to support restauranteur confidence and success outside the kitchen?

With a business failure rate of 60% after the first year (and 80% after five), the pressure on a restaurant owner to succeed is extreme. What restaurant customers don’t see is the 14-hour day, 7-day week that the owner/chef puts into making their dream a reality.

US Foods is one of the premier food providers in the U.S., and leaders in overall B2B ecommerce revenue. Our team was tasked with utilizing the variety of data inputs available to improve the overall restaurant experience and support the owners and chefs as they transition from ordering product to marketing and hospitality.

Our process began with qualitative research through interviews with foundational client departments and restaurant owners alike to discover more about what data is available, but more importantly what information would be beneficial to the success of a restaurant.

The overall responsive web experience elevates key information when it’s needed most, and brings the data to life through 4 main business components of orders, spending, marketing, and menu creation and evaluation.

Key responsibilities:
Visual design
Design system alignment
Creative direction
User and stakeholder research
